Just finished this. Interesting concept, a series of ongoing conversations. Some subjects benefit from this, you can see ideas and beliefs in the process of getting refined and evolving.
Some fascinating and emotive subjects. Not least about his grieving for his son Arthur and also his spiritual beliefs and take on religion etc.
I hadn't listened to Skeleton Tree and Ghosteen before reading this as I didn't want to contemplate that kind of loss but I think about it a lot anyway after what happened to my mate's daughter. Ive listened to them loads over the last couple of months. Particularly Ghosteen. Anyway, I learnt that contrary to what it may sound like lyrically, all of the songs on Skeleton Tree were written and most of the album was made before his son died. Only one line of one song was changed. The lyrics subsequently freaked out Nick and his wife a lot. The first line of the first song is "You fell from the sky, crash landed in a field near the river Adur". He can't listen to this album now.
I find Ghosteen really peaceful to listen to and some of the songs are incredible. He wanted to create a musical environment through which he could connect with his son's spirit. Anyway, great book. Essential for Cave fans I guess.
