Jesus fucking Christ you guys are in opposite land.
Back in the 90s Lorry Drivers (I knew two) were on 25K a year - which at the time was double the average wage. They worked fucking hard for the money and no one I knew thought they didn't deserve it. That would run to about £50-£55K now days. And to be honest, it's a deserved fucking wage for working those hours and spending half your life kipping in the back of a cab. The only people who seem to resent other people earning enough to afford a house, a car and a decent feed for his kids seem to be public sector. It's typical Labour politics of envy.
If there's some want to earn £60K driving a rig then go do the tests and apply. Nowt stopping you.
Seems there's plenty of people (and by people I mean public sector workers with pensions and unions) that are happy for private sector workers to face low wages as long as it doesn't work the same for them.
If we're talking about allowing in cheap labour from Europe to lower wages for the private sector then why aren't we doing it for the public sector too? After all, it's for the good of the economy.
