Foxy_Dread fuck off, I earn now what I earned in 2001. Tough titty for me. I want everyone to do well. If the lorry drivers want to do something perhaps they should unionise. Tell me why that isn’t plausible if you want and I’ll take it up from there.
Scroll up this very thread and you'll see comments from Labour voters about wanting cheap labour to protect prices and the status quo. I'd rather be paying 10p extra on a bag of carrots and see the distribution chain workers paid good wages. Fuck it, make it 20p a bag more and we'll grow them locally, instead of getting them grown in southern Europe by people paid so poorly they'd be considered slave labour in this country, and then driven by dirty diesel engines across the breadth of Europe to satisfy the shareholders of supermarkets.
As I said before, the way we feed ourselves and our reliance on cheap labour has come to an end. Brexit and it's fallout is all tied in with global distribution disruption, post-pandemic society and the climate emergency. Best to adjust now and sort things out. Unfortunately our two ruling parties are locked in a turd throwing death spiral to notice.
Viva la revolution.
