By saying "what he thought best" I was expressing the opinion that he could, as a reasoning adult, decide whther he wanted the UK to be in the EU or not be in the EU.
By "over the line" I meant the common idiomatic meaning of that phrase which I took to be "to achieve a successful outcome".
Putting these two common English phrases together I was explicitly saying that he could have pursued whichever of the two courses of action that were his preference and achieve his goals.
I know you're not this thick, and you know you're not this thick and to be honest, mate, you're coming across as a little bit sad, because when I'm not reading your posts you don't exist to me. I think perhaps you've got some other things going on and you're externalising some frustrations in my direction. If this is helping you, then fair enough. But if you're not getting anything out of this then it's a bit pointless. But whatever floats your boat.
