Went to Headingley tonight for the Vitality Blast game with Worcestershire. The boy loved it as did his sister and the Mrs. Tickets bought for me and Jim for the Derbyshire game on the 9th (the females are watching some lass called Taylor that day) and then we're all off to the Roses game on the 20th. Acemans.

I was at the Cheltenham cricket festival this week to see Gloucestershire v Glamorgan and don’t recall ever seeing anything like it. First day saw 17 wickets, both sides bowled out for under 200. The second innings was like a different game. Gloucestershire declared on 610/5 with a target of 593 for Glamorgan to win. That would’ve been a world record. Anyway, as the wickets eventually tumbled on the last day it looked like the game might peter out as the overs dwindled. Suddenly three fours off an over left Glamorgan sensing victory as they swaggered to 592 with one wicket remaining. It all came to the last ball. A brilliant flying catch from Bracey to tie the match. Sensational stuff.
Off to the T20 there v Kent this aft. Hoping the weather holds.

Tough one for the lad tonight. Playing a Huddersfield Tav's team. First Golden. Walked off. Head up. Fighting back tears in the changing room. Got it back together. Fielded well. Bowled two overs. Got a wicket. Cruel sport at times, but he's still smiling, still wants to get better and will be back in the nets tomorrow after school. He's come on so much this year. Second season of hard ball. He'll never be the star but all I want is him to enjoy it. And he does.
One thing that everyone sees is that he's the first with an arm around a teammate when they need it. Noisy bugger in the field too. That'll do for me.

Much better week for the lad this week. Two wins. Took 2 for 6 off two overs and got a run out with a direct hit from fine leg on Tuesday.

Bradford League. They merged with the Central League in 2016. Lightcliffe are currently top of its fourth tier. The league structure is a lot bigger than it would have been back then.

Vocal, as long as it's sledging. I used to love taking the piss out of what seemed like old guys (probably late 20's ) when i was bowling .

Lovely ground is Lightcliffe. Others ... my memory is shot. Salts or Saltaire ? Plenty of bad ones ... Keighley, Bingley, Yorkshire Bank.. Has he played at Laisterdyke yet 😁

YoungParisian_inExile he encourages his teammates a lot. He was fielding a mid-on on Tuesday. He'd move over and walk the run up with everyone who bowled. Encouraging, all the while shining the ball before going back over to get set in his place. Handed them the marker for runs up. I'll take that.
