Anchor That's because, like the Med and the black sea it is almost fully enclosed by land and is not a body of water large enough to be affected by the moon's gravity. The Med, though often cited as tideless is actually tidal, albeit with a very small rise and fall. On a day to day basis I do notice the tide, even though it is only manifested by my having to alter my daily route round the Cabo when the tide is in. So there.

Mitaman Bit more in Fundy. They get 15 metres in the Bristol Channel - Sevrn Bore and all that good stuff. I worked on the prospectivity survey for the Severn barrage - shooting about the mudflats on a hovercraft - jumping into huge pools of stinky mud at low tide. Nice.
