A lot of sanctimony or faux martyrdom on display.
There’s the gay “comedian” and serial letter writer, “not” burning £10’000 in an effort to shame Beckham. The constant soul searching of The Guardianistas over the plight of those who built the stadia and infrastructure. Something they’ve never worried about before. The poor players denied the opportunity to virtue signal over gay rights with an armband.
Frankly it’s bollocks. This is not to say I’m indifferent to the plight of the oppressed. I just wonder where all these worthy warriors were when the tournament was in Russia with it’s record of state sponsored murder in the UK, invasion of Crimea, persecution of homonsexuals at home. Or for that matter Brazil where Rio has approximately 25% of the population living in Favelas in conditions that are hellishly dangerous – think "City of God". All with a rainforest bonfire backdrop.
Qatar was a crap place to hold the World Cup but running around blaming the Qataries for it is absurd. The blame lies with Blatter, Platina and myriad of FIFA officials from, the developing world.
