On my way home. Three hour drive to Marrakech.
I've loved it. Two days in Marrakech was perfect. So glad I've experienced the madness of that place. The sights, sounds, smells, chaos and heat. Really enjoyed it.
As everyone says Essasouira a much different experience. The Medina calm and collected in comparison but still that sense of being somewhere wildly different. Narrow alleys, broader squares and something different at every turn.
Spending time on the beach, at a resort pool or sat in a cafe drinking mint tea. A wonderful experience - one I want to repeat. Friendly people, pretty cheap and some delicious food.
I enjoyed the lack of alcohol. I did have a few beers and enjoyed them. But it wasn't the focus.
Things I'd do differently - the Riad we stayed in for five nights was pretty shit. Literally no windows. Mugged off by Booking.com who described it as having a balcony. It had a roof terrace that wasn't great. I'd have rather had two nights there and three in a hotel outside the Medina.
I'd try and fly straight to Essouira if I come back. I think you can go from Stanstead.
I'd not use the coach again. It was an endurance test.
Other than that. It was ace. Thanks to everyone for the recos.
