"It [Israel] has committed appalling acts in the process and has been the victim of the same. It's a country of contradictions, capable of much that it good and much that is shameful. Its recent history is no different" October 2023
"Unless and until we recognise the extremes on both sides and address the fanaticism and intransigence on both sides, we will never stop the cycle of killing and misery"
"A 2-state solution is the only solution. Getting there seems almost impossible at the moment. But that can change.
It needs a progressive regime in Israel and some major shifts on the Palestinian side.
It needs Israel being prepared to 'return' land and take on the militant settlers.
And it needs the Palestinians to stop regarding this as a religious war" October 2023
On the hospital attack "And whatever the cause the loss of life is unimaginably horrific" October 2023
"Daily images of the impact in Gaza are horrifying. And the anger they generate is understandable" November 2023
"The events of '47-48 have framed so much of where we are now. There's much to condemn about Israel's actions since then" December 2023
"I don't think Israel is justified in the bombing that it has undertaken in recent weeks. I think the impact has been disproportionate. And I think they should stop the bombardment. I don't see that they should necessarily stop any ground campaign" December 2023
"I don't seek the justify settler violence and land grabs. I don't support or seek to justify the more extreme members of the Knesset and their racism. I don't support Netanyahu's stance on a 2-state solution. It's unworkable and ridiculous to suggest that the Palestinians should accept it.
It's just the same for Israel's refusal to return to pre-67 borders in '73, their failure to make good on their commitments following the Oslo accords and the authority's lack of intervention when settlers run riot in Palestinian villages and towns" December 2023
"I don't think anyone sane wants the loss of life to continue. But we have to realistic about what a ceasefire involves. Whilst not ultimately as horrific as the loss of civilian life, there are still a number of hostages, including children in Gaza" December 2023
"There are a lot of assholes and cunts in Israel" January 2024
"Too many have died in Gaza. And continue to do so" July 2024
"As for my own view, I'd happily see Netanyahu removed. And a ceasefire. I'd like to see the IDF orchestrate an unprecedented aid and food relief campaign. I'd like to see an end to civilian deaths. I'd like to see an end to land grabs. I'd like to see the international community work towards a two-state solution. And to work towards rebuilding Gaza as part of that" July 2024
"Netanyahu is unquestionably a cunt. And a dangerous one too" October 2024
"There are sections of the population in Israel that are militant and intransigent in equal measure. They're the settlers who continue to occupy large swathes of land and displace those living there. They're the government ministers and politicians who revel in the slaughter of those they see as their enemies. And they're the members of the general public who support them and vote for them.
They're worthy of our ire and contempt" October 2024
"Arguably well-founded suspicions that he and many in his cabinet want to use the conflict as a cover for land-grabbing on an enormous scale would be tested and the truth exposed" October 2024
"The settler movement have been protected by many in power for too long" May 2025
"She's vile [about a right-wing Knesset member]" May 2025
"I've said before and will say again, what is happening needs to stop" July 2025
" As achingly sad as the continuing loss of life in Gaza is, there are other issues that matter if we're serious about resolving things" August 2025
"Your uncanny ability to determine, firstly, whether war crimes have been committed (for the record, I suspect they have been) and, perhaps more importantly, to provide figures for that" October 2025
"Should have added this. Netanyahu extended this conflict for his own political aims. He appeased the more extreme elements of Israeli politics that shore up his fragile coalition. He increasingly ignored the families of the hostages and those who support them. He played a game. Badly. And that caused unnecessary suffering and deaths. But talk of genocide is, at best, premature and, in my opinion, wrong" October 2025
"Why can't we recognise the pain of people like Yarden Bibas and, at the same time, of the 1000s of families who've lost loved ones in Gaza?" October 2025
"There's a great deal to criticise in what Israel does...That doesn't mean I support or condone the recent land incursion into Lebanon for example" A week ago
Did people die who shouldn't have done? Unquestionably. Were actions taken that shouldn't have been? Again, unquestionably" A week ago
I'm not blind to the atrocities. Of either side. I've referenced them again and again. I don't ignore ethnic cleansing. I've called it out again and again. What I also see are lines like this ' I understand the Jews feel threatened in the current climate and that they are made to feel that way is wrong, but you have to ask why this is the case' and I see them for what they are.
