Travis_Bickle If you've not already seen it the bbc doc from the other night 'Inside the Rage Machine' is worth a watch. It looks at the way social media feed algorithms are skewed with a emphasis on generating traffic and making money, regardless of the hurt or politics they discuss. The more outrageous the lie the more traffic is generated, and racism and hate generate the most. This so called 'influencer' bull shit is one of the prime culprits - cunts can sit on their arse at home, fire off some 'influential' abuse and sit there while the money comes in. A rare instance of a non-job paying well. Of course the 'tech bosses' deny any such skewing but of course they would as they top up their mega pile built on nothing.
While Iranian chants from nigh on 50 years ago persist they were just a couple of drops of piss in the wind in comparison to the cesspit social media has opened up. Now if you shout 'Death to America' or 'River to the Sea' you have a potential audience of billions. This is a sea change over the last 10-15 years and is largely un-policed and unregulated. Short of banning Social Media it's not going to improve in a hurry - there is too much power and too much money to be made by calling somebody a cunt.
Could AI be the solution? I doubt it - you then get into the realm of algorithms controlling algorithms and the shit will be infinitely self perpetuating. I'm 67, not long left, but one can't help but feel for the younger generations who are totally overwhelmed by this shite. If had the answer I'd be up there with the weirdoes, but I haven't and I doubt if anyone else has.
