I worked with a bloke who'd been to Woodstock, done the riding the rails hobo thing, chanced his arm in Village cafes and, like you with the bloke you knew, he seemed to be coming from another world. He'd be younger then that I am now. I met a girl who was impressed I'd seen The Smiths once. Doesn't really feel the same does it?
