One of those where the reason for the pick beats the actual tune. Given how much 'product' is out there online, it's easy to forget that a lot of households often had only a handful of records or tapes. Even if there were more, I'm convinced the way we played music and how it was released, meant we spent more time on it. And let stuff grow on us where now stuff is easily dismissed. Having tapes for the car is a good example. There'd be a few in the glovebox that got played over and over. We had a couple of those faux leather, briefcase looking things with tapes in on the floor in the back too.
Funny how just a few words about buying tapes and 70s cars can trigger loads of memories. Nice one AW.

I'd have taken that plane off the end too.....

When I lived in Spain, and they played Joe Cocker on the radio, they used to refer to him as 'Joe Cooker', which always made me laugh and still does.

Reminds of when I was a kid, listening to the chart show in the late 60's on the way home from the coast in my old fellas Austin Cambridge. Great track. There were loads of songs of that ilk - The Move, Manfred Mann, Small Faces (6 played Itchycoo park this morning - another great track), Kinks - loads of 'em....

I loved those Amii Stewart songs at the time, and this one in particular with that squelchy late 70's electric drum sound.

Great song. Heard it loads of times but had no idea it was Alex Chilton singing it so I've learnt something there.

As an aside, I got into Big Star via Teenage Fanclub. I used to have # 1 record "taped" on a cassette and played it a lot when I was very hungover. The first track "Feel" feeling appropriate then by the time it got to "India song" I'd usually start to feel a bit better, and by "watch the sunrise" I knew I was gonna be OK. They always sounded a bit fragile like they were just about managing to keep it together which probably appealed. Not played them in years.

This sounds really soulful. His voice is brilliant for a teenager. He sounds a lot older as well as looking older. I didn't know who it was by and sort of assumed it was an old soul song. Now I know. Good choice 👍

Never heard of them or this song - dont recall it from Once Upon A Time in Hollywood and I've watched that film a few times.

It obviously fits OUATIH and the time scales.

Anyway. A bit meh for me. Didn't mind it but not going to be added to any playlists of mine.
