Leeds would’ve done better than Southampton this season. Not down to quality of players, but due to the fact they won’t have replicated the same mistakes game in/game out.
Micah Richards is an absolute full weight. His rambling semi defence of Rashford was painful to watch.
Kyle Walker is in need of some sort of intervention.
In 90% of situations it wouldn’t be so critical to ‘beat the press’, if you weren’t attempting to stroke the ball about square in your own box between players with limited short passing ability.
The ‘press’ suddenly loses its magic & potency when the GK leathers the fucking ball up to a CF and gets it 30 yards away from his net. The same occurs when a CM hits the channels with a pass & turns the FB. The ‘press’ magically reappears when limited CM’s and CF’s attempt to play aimless 5 yard passes to each other in dangerous areas of the pitch.
Why after being the fucking ‘press’, which now appears to be the holy grail of achievements, do teams then stop, cut back, play square & arse about with the ball and allow the opposition to regroup goal side of the ball and restart the ‘press’. Wankers.
As fun as this supposed Citeh collapse is to watch, I suspect that there’s a deliberate reason for it. If Pep told me it was raining, I’d go out and check for myself. Something is afoot.

Misura in point 5, abso-fucking-lutely. The dogmatic way teams stick to their plan makes it so easy to counter. An occasional hoof or strong channel ball creates doubt and means opponents have to make provisions.

The pace at which teams employ this makes a works a difference too, particularly in the champo. It's why I'm quick to jump on Rodon who is the one most likely to doze off before he plays his 5 yarder square.

Everybody cheats the system. All in politics, sport, business bla bla, all of them cheat as much as they can get away with. Read any edition of Private Eye and see how many cheats there are in broad daylight and nothing gets done. I'm not losing any sleep over City being punished. I expect the people who judge them are checking their accounts as we speak.
