Raposa You don’t need to twist everything into an anti Blades post. Accept Leeds’s real & obvious failings when they are respectfully pointed out to you. There’s no need to project insecurities onto us.

It’s like the footballing equivalent of penis envy or something. 🤷

    Misura
    Gee Orr.
Just makes me chuckle when you dive in at every given opportunity,
I can think of scores of clubs to have penis envy over and Sheffield fucking United wouldn’t even get near the list my old mate.
    Chill.

I was gonna leave it until tomorrow as I know Harvest has a view and to be honest he has a point, the stadium is shoddy to say the least with the possible exception of the East Stand and even that needs some work in the concourse area.
The club has neglected its responsibilities in that respect whilst far lesser ( or smaller) clubs have overtaken them.
In fairness it’s not so easy to prioritise stadium redevelopment when you have perhaps more obvious failings on the playing side but there’s no excuse for failing to deliver the more basic maintenance tasks like sorting the toilets out or as H says a lick of paint every summer.
I know for a fact that the owners have submitted plans to redevelop three sides of the stadium but you’d hazard a guess the majority of that work is dependent on promotion to the PL.

What I will say is that ER is still old school in terms of atmosphere, something sadly lacking in most of the soulless new builds.
Today not far short of a full house turned up for a relatively meaningless friendly and generated another fabulous atmosphere ( at least where we were anyway) and for now I’ll take that.
But I’d agree most of the stadium in general is on borrowed time, it just feels right now though that it’s not the biggest concern at the club.

        Submitted where???

That's some goal from Rutter, and bloody good by Joseph. Orta's kids! As of course are Struijick Summerville and Gnonto. You add in Raphinia and of course the mad Idea to bring in a certain Argentinian manager, he's entitled to an appraisal with a bit of perspective. I know he bought some shit as well but so does every football club, Ferguson signed Dion Dublin for fucks sake. The only one he's over paid for in those I list is Rutter and that may be re-appraised if he keeps on as he is. If we go up this year and Rutter carries on in similar fashion in the premier league then the sky is the limit in terms of his value. Even Koch and Llorente were decent value until left exposed by Marsch's tactics. Even Rodrigo when finally played as a striker consistently came up with the goals. 13 Premier League goals in 23 starts and 8 subs is more than decent in a side that had four managers that season and got relegated.

And then you go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like Jesse Marsch (and the Red Bull obsession).

albert_herbert_hawkins One of the issues with Orta was he seemed to sign players in the wrong positions for what the team needed at any given time. I think he always had one eye, and at times both eyes, on turning a profit on a player. I understand that’s the reality of football to a large extent these days but if the team you’ve assembled get relegated ultimately you’ve failed.

Rutter scored a great goal in a preseason friendly. He’s missed some sitters in the Championship though. I like him, he’s fun to watch and seems like a loveable type but you can’t realistically say he’s been a good buy until he proves his worth in the PL. They paid a lot of money for potential at a time that the side needed players who could make an immediate impact, arguably, at the other end of the pitch.

Be interesting to see a full list of his signings. He must have signed about 50 odd, some very odd, players in his time here.

Jon Fair enough, though I'd say the only thing lacking in Rutter's game is taking his easy chances. Given his age there's time for him to square that away. Should he do so I'd say promotion would likely be followed by substantial bids at Christmas in the prem if he'd put away even half a dozen goals in that league by then.

And yes I take the relegation point though I believe the signing of managers and coaches was more at fault in the relegation than the players, many of whom were signed by top flight clubs either in the UK or elsewhere in europe pretty damn quickly. Those remaining were part of a team that only missed automatic due to an exceptional performance from Ipswich Town.

I too would be interested to see a full list of both ins and outs on his watch. as well as retained value on signings still here.
