Placid Trump isn't doing all this alone, he's just a figure head for a group who I assume now have a grip on the party.
He isn't driving in an autocratic direction without the blessing of the people who really matter.
That the techno brigade were falling over to really row in behind him suggests they know this direction of travel isn't dependent on Trump and Vance.
I still think it will come down to whether the military want to stop him/them.
