The Milan goal sums up the issue I have with last season's centre backs, they always get drawn into the goal mouth. Watch Struijk here, there is no reason he cannot be tight on the goalscorer, instead he does nothing. Rodon was no better in this respect last season. Farke seems to be okay with this.

What do you think of Schmidts role in that goal because from where I’m looking he should be cutting the supply line into the box off but is dragged out of position again.

Raposa He has been caught out of position a few times that half. He looks useful going forwards but totally forgets he has to defend. And when he is back hes often playing too narrow giving their winger and fullback hectares of space out there.

I like the look of Stach and gudmundsensensen though.

Raposa I'd have to watch the goal again. Even if Schmidt is at fault for the ball in, that doesn't absolve other players of a responsibility to do the basics. Surely in Struijks situation you are scanning for the danger not getting pulled by an invisible force into the goal mouth.

@Raposa Djpekingman I agree Schmidt is pulled out of position but he is left high and dry with two men to cover and they are 20 yards apart.

We need to be more vocal and bollock midfield players for allowing their man such freedom. If that becomes a thing whoever plays full back will be up against it.

As already said, Stach and Gudmundson look useful, Schmidt and Struijk don't quite look good enough. I like Struijk and think he will do okay in the Prem with support, but Schmidt looks a bit suspect, to say the least.
Anyway, it's only a friendly and there'll be a different team to moan about second half...😄

I think Struijk is our weak link at the back, lets see how Rodon does at this level. He can get caught flat-footed too.

Mitaman I think Rodon is a bit lost without Ampadu at the side of him telling where to go and what to do. Maybe they speak Welsh to each other but either he doesn't understand anyone else or they're talking bollox to him.
