Reggie_Perrin small world. I went 92-94. Was brilliant. Met my partner there. Me & her went back earlier this year. Preston really looks on the up again. Which was good to see. Our first date was in the Adelphi.

Love the inspirals. Great pick. I've got loads of 12" singles of there's alongside albums.

I really enjoyed Saturn 5 later in their career as well.

@Under-the-ground @Reggie_Perrin loved the Adelphi, good lively boozer . Old girlfriend (ex cigarette girl at Kit Kat club) was from Preston … her dad was the art department technician .

As for the Inspirals , saw them in Paris 89/90 with Ride in tow. Loved that first album , and this track is one of those ‘you had to be there ‘ era / sub culture defining tunes. Essential 🧒🏻

Never really liked this lot. Their songs always sounded like album fillers to me. I know the song, but it still doesn’t move me. Has the feel of a Primark Stone Roses. Thanks for posting, though.

Without ever being bowled over by them, they had some cracking tunes, like this. They got lumped in with the other Manchester lot but were more of a garage band I always thought. Their failed vocalist and roadie went on to form the biggest band in the world (for a while).

A mate of mine went to that ASF gig..85 in Clouds would be my guess...I think the Jesus and Mary Chain were due to play..
There used to be some good venues in the early to mid 80s with the likes of the Paradise Club and Carribbean Club .
As for the Spud Bros they must be geniuses to get people to queue for an hour for a jacket.

Played Life a lot at the time, went to see them at GMex, supported by the La's (and James?) but it's been an age since I've heard this. It's ok, brings back memories of student nights and those long sleeve cow t-shirts that were everywhere for a while.

Three things stick in the mind about this lot:

The promoted this album on milk bottles for a while. My sister whisked one off someone's doorstep and I'm sure there was a spike in milk crime in the NW.
One of their early tracks had the line "Don't be a mardarse", which tickled me no end.
The video for 'This Is How it Feels' was shot on Woodhead (or was it Snake Pass?)

Seen them a couple of times back in the late 80's - Leeds and Brussels. Always waiting for the singles as, as someone said earlier they always come across as a bit of a filler band. This is OK but nowt to write home about. It reminds me very much of their 'other' single Saturn V - structure of the song, rousing chorus etc.'

I've still got my original Cool As Fuck t-shirt. Got chucked out of the Vienna Inn just outside DC because the the rednecked fuckwit behind the bar 'Liked the shirt but did not like the pro-fanitee'. Cunt.

Also known as the Furs apparently. The Butiler brothers can't have been happy about that.
