TBH Mermaid wasn't that special but it was spitting distance. I was trying to picture the one you were on about but kept seeing that Mr Chippy. Was it a traditional looking job up the hill from Delaney's?

We'd not long moved in and went to Fryer Tuck's at Hipperholme. Without question the worst fish and chips ever served. The Alternative used to sell better!!!

Best chippy in Harehills, was the one up Harehills Road, where it meets the bottom of Conway Road where the old Trade X was. Run by a mustachioed chap called Gordon, if I remember rightly. Quality stuff right there.

What happened to Harpo's? It was Hero's by the time I left. There was another pizza place opened on the parade down from the Compton, you could buy 'membership cards'! Two for one on all pizzas from memory.

Went to The Mermaid [Harehills] on Monday evening. Fish & chips £4.10, fish cooked to order but the chips had been sitting a long time. They are doing a lunchtime special till 3pm for medium fish, chips and mushy peas or a breadcake for £2.90.
Is George still running it? Mad Leeds fan.My regular back when I lived over that way. Kingfisher further up was alright but never open.
Not been going there that long but expect it's him, we always have a chat about Leeds.

Quayside chippy in Whitby. Nice chips, use beef dripping, fish comes with skin on the bottom. So so batter. 6/10 despite all the awards, the Les Rouiters sign. West Yorks still untouchable.

One down the row from the Magpie? Not bad, but nothing special. Magpie's own takeaway was pretty good last year.Went to the York Outlet, Graveley's have a place there. Always thought their place by the market was alright.
