Thinking back after looking at old photos. Me and Slant we'd sometimes head to the Duck & Drake after the match - lots of others in there too - if you were a bit short on cash, two pints of 'snake bite' made up of half a pint of scrumpy and a bottle of Russian stout (12%) would set you up nicely. Three and I didn't give a fuck about Battler sneering at me either.Went through a good few Becks last night while bouncing around the www. Very nice. Feel fresh as a daisy this morning.

I dont think slant would actually comment on which tipple he would prefer, just any

Hook Norton 303 AD - nice.

The highlight of my recent trip back to England beer wise was Calderd Ale (geddit?) brewed by the Elland Brewery, the downer was the barrel ran off after just one. It tastes massively of toffee which I thought rather clever given Halifax's pre-eminence in the toffee industry of old. It's not available all year round, they brew it every april apparently. In the past I've griped about the prevalence of pale hoppy bitters, but i'm acclimatised now and often enjoy one now.

I've had that, it's ok. Decent choice of ales there + a lot cheaper than most places.
