Does seem mental that we're letting Pontus go for 5.5mill when Mings goes for 26.5! Why not hold onto him, have him train away from first team, or even in Malmo, wait for a decent offer? Then we won't have to sell any more Jack Clarke's for a while...

To me this seems pretty straightforward. Even at the start of last season Bielsa wasnt sure about Jansson, by the end of the season he wanted him away. You get what the market will pay and im pretty sure his agent has been touting him around and it appears Brentford is the best he can do, hence the £5 million. If Sheff Utd, Watford, Boro or WBA had wanted him, he would have gone there, but obviously there isnt the demand. I once read Jansson said "Ive given up beer for Bielsa" and "I like it when Leeds or on TV, as they get to see me in Sweden".
Well Ill tell you what Pontus old pal, you can have a few beers again now and there wont be too many people tuning in on television in Gothenburg when you`re fist pumping to 9,500 at home to Luton.

I'd have sold him after he injured himself heading the ball at Preston the season before when he managed to flatten himself. But on a more serious note he'll take some replacing.

If he is a problem player, you move them on no fucking around. SAF didn't even blink at getting rid of star players like Beckham, Stamm, Roy Keane et al. Why should Bielsa? Its about a club set of rules that last even after MB leaves.

Shame we only got 5m, but there you go, its still a 2m profit on him. Our problems last year weren't so much defensive, they were in attack.

Edited to say that I genuinely thought all our players have improved under MB, but Jansson I thought played better the year before with whatsisname.

He's claiming we had to sell to raise cash to comy with FFP. He's also on £30k a week at Brentford on a 3yr deal so let's see how they fare with their 12,000 capacity. £5.50 per seat per game if the ground is full and that's ignoring the transfer fee.

We need players. You can't let 2 CBs go and bring in one Brighton reserve. Plus if Philips is off then we need a real player in because we also let Forshaw go. I think I would be OK with Coster, Lord Bamford and Edmonson if Roofe goes.

Bod went to Fulham didn't he? I only mention him because if Phillips goes too it leaves us without a senior player in that position. No new contract for KP and £25m on the table is a tricky situation.

I liked Pontus but if he was the odd red sock in with the white wash then soonest gone the better. If only OLeary had had the strength and knowledge to get rid of Rat Boy before the whole team had gone sour, our history would have been different.

Phillips won't go, Bielsa will have made that nailed on before he re-signed. There's quite a few reports around of Pontus' behaviour, seems both Monk and Heck had problems with him too, Pontus likes to be the big man who listens to no-one, breaks the rules, a rebel. A daft teenager in other words. Most convincing argument I've read is that Pontus refused to return on time last season after World Cup, and same this season, he wanted an extra week off, Bielsa said he could have a couple of days, Pontus went crazy. Bielsa saw it as undermining his authority and he was shipped out immediately.

A real shame but seems it has been on the cards, Whelan been saying as much for quite a while.

Clarke was sold to balance the books and adhere to FFP. Plus we got him back straight away, I'm sure they knew that was happening. Pontus was sold cos he's a bit of a twat with a big mouth and temper tantrums. I'm convinced Radz is going full on for promotion this year, he'd be crazy not to and Bielsa wouldn't have re-signed. The Costa fee and deal show how serious they are. All the young players they've been recruiting show they're setting up for success. Phillips and Roofe will agree new contracts eventually. Then we just have to play football a little bit better than last year. It's gonna be fucking great again!
