Ben White needs to make his move i.e. not sign a new contract/put in a transfer request. £30 million is too much and it's time for Bielsa/Radz to identify another White. After all, no one knew who he was at first, and now look. We don't anymore spunking cash all over the place, as that way madness lies, as we know.

I don't buy this Bielsa can conjure up another Ben White, it understates the talent of Ben White. Bielsa can give him the environment to flourish, he can tweak facets of his play but his ability on the ball, his cool head has not come from Bielsa. If it's that simple why isn't Cooper another Ben White? Bielsa can only work with the raw materials, he can polish a turd and make it look quite nice but it will still be a turd.

Foxy_Dread I know what you're saying, but I don't think we should be coughing up £40 million plus for a player who hasn't featured in the Prem and was a virtual unknown before Bielsa cast his spell, which is more than Mr Potter was ever likely to do.

Foxy_Dread Given Wolves were in the Premier League when they sold Costa do you wonder why they were happy to let him go? Wolves fans seem to think they’d had the best out of him by the time we got him.

Jon No I haven't wondered that. They did upgrade in a few positions, I don't know if his position was one of them. He's not going to skin someone in a tight spot, well very infrequently, you have to get the ball to him quite early but when he gets the ball in space he seems to make the right choices. I think he improved as the season went on and he does the defensive side of his job well enough.

Foxy_Dread I know so little about the PL these days but I do remember quite a few Wolves fans felt he’d been good for them but wasn’t up to it.
I was critical of him last season then he started to play well.

I don't know where the ceiling price should be for Leeds, that depends on several factors.

If he's not good enough to play in the Prem he's not worth 20 million never mind 40m, however we all know he is good enough to play in the Prem which makes the fact he hasn't played there insignificant in my opinion.

There is little doubt that in a couple of years he will be going for considerably more then 40m.

Mitaman Cooper's growth was impressive.

Kalvin Phillips was astonishing.

From walking off the pitch from Heckingbottom's last game to Bielsa's first was amazing. I have no idea what they did that summer to sort his head out.

Leeds United are pleased to announce the signing of young goalkeeper Dani van den Heuvel from Eredivisie side Ajax.
The 17-year-old has signed a three-year deal at Elland Road, running until the summer of 2023.

Brighton asking for 55m for White makes perfect sense if they don't want to sell him unless getting a great price for him. What a great position to be in.

Of course there could be a time when the transfer market resets, football's fortune is heavily intertwined with the TV rights. So how do you play it, spend nothing waiting for that day? I'd be okay with spending very little if the supporter base don't turn on them if things go tits up. Of course we have a set of loons who will be calling for Bielsa's head in a couple of month's of moderate results.

Foxy_Dread I keep wondering if and when the bubble will burst. I don't really know how you play it to be honest but, given our history, I am apprehensive about splashing out. I also wonder what an expensive signing would do to the wage structure.

White has also turned down a third contract offer from Brighton.
