Foxy_Dread I keep wondering if and when the bubble will burst. I don't really know how you play it to be honest but, given our history, I am apprehensive about splashing out. I also wonder what an expensive signing would do to the wage structure.

Jon if you mean White I would think he would comfortably fit under Kiko's 60k. I suspect the wage structure will unavoidably look a lot different in a year's time. The squad will split into two lots, those who are real premier league class whichever team they play for, they will get decent rises or move on, then those who are greatful to be here because they realise their good fortune is bound up with being part of Bielsa's Leeds team. I would like to think we keep grip of this but history says increased tv money goes to the wages. Again it comes down to whether the spectators are prepared to accept a gutsy cheaply assembled squad battling against the odds, and taking any failure with good grace.

Probably one of the strongest correlations in football is the one between wage bill and final league placing. You generally get the league finish you pay for, allowing for some variance of course.

I think, judging by Twitter remarks, staying up will be seen as success next season as long as it looks like there's some kind of growth to build on in the season after. At least that's how I read it. I personally think the PL won't be all a lot of people thought it would be. Getting there might well be more fun than been there.

I actually trust Radrizzani & Orta etc to handle any cash/wages pretty well, especially given Fotherby, Ridsdale, Bates etc in the past.
White's certainly level headed on the pitch, guess so off it. He'll probably take a hefty chunk of the fee given he's not asked for a transfer, so hopefully not upset the applecart in asking excessive wages. He'll know where he's come from and improved in the last 18 months - higher profile, Premiership, adoration, talk of England, St Marcelo. His agent can always put 'up for sale' if in bottom half end of season!
I think he'll be at Leeds come kick off. Anyway, he's marrying Kalvin isn't he so it's a given? Not sure who keeps the name!! 😉

white refusing to sign is basically the same as handing in a transfer request. Absolutely no way will Brighton keep him if he refuses to sign, his value will plummet as the season progresses plus they have a player on their books who doesn't want to be there. Bielsa sees White as Key, almost as much if not more so than KP. We will get him, it just depends how much of the transfer kitty Radz is willing to spunk on one player. Talk of other players ala koch Might just be a smokescreen to see if Brighton blink. ALso if we DO have to go to silly money 30-35 m we have the option of selling more shares to the 49rs to fund the transfer For me its a no brainer. White after 12 months in the prem will be Englands first choice CB 35 million is lot of money. but we all know that his value will double if not triple by the end of this season...

EEPW If he doesn't break a leg, how Leeds would that be?! Pretty sure Brighton have the option for another year so they can hang on, the key is how much White wants to go to Leeds and how unhappy he'll be if denied.

I see Brighton have refused the offer again. Being as I agree with how EEPW sees it, I can only conclude that Brighton think they can get more for him somewhere else. But I haven't heard that another club has made an offer. I understand the window doesn't close till early October, so there's a long way for this to go before Brighton fold. I think we need to go looking elsewhere for a CB.

doggybag No other offers and I think other PL teams will want to see how he performs in the Prem, so Brighton need to play him often and it depends where his head is at playing for them. I think their plan is to get him in the shop window and if he works out he'll be a 40 to 45m player end of next with 2 years on his contract (1 year and they have a 1 year option I believe). He should put down a request now if he wants to leave. If not, play the game Brighton have planned for him. Rumours also abound that he's not signed a 3rd contract offered, I am assuming Brighton has a big release clause in it.

Mitaman exactly. Here today gone tomorrow managers laying out £40m for players who think they've made it /won the lottery then start to get complacent. Keep em hungry. If you pay top wages you may get three top players but you will also have 15 knobheads on £5m a year.
