He's established up there. He should have no fear of stepping up to the PL if a PL club comes calling. If his ambitions don't match ours we move on. I don't want anyone at the club who doesn't truly want to be there.

Travis_Bickle I wonder if this is because at that level, the ability level of a paid player v non-paid player is a lot closer. In which case, as an owner, you don’t really want to be offering more than a one-year contract to anyone? I.e you are easy to replace at that level as new lads cone through.

Tried Google. Hard to find which player holds the record. Most info is on clubs with loads of players loaned out and record loan fees. Loan is a funny way to describe what actually happens isn’t it?

The number of loans record must be a recent thing. Years ago you went on loan to a club and either signed for them, went back to your club and got in the side or got offloaded somewhere else. Chelsea are never going to play Izzy Brown regularly, so they musn t be able to get him off their books. (wages?)
I know a Leicester fan in the late 80 s he was raving on about Kevin Campbell and saying he won t be staying with us, he s too good, which he didn t.
I don t understand Jack Harrison for us, he s 23 and never kicked a ball for City, probably never will, you d think they d sell him.

zico Seems Leeds decided to kick the Harrison can down the road for another year so the transfer kitty was bigger now. We can sign him for £10m next year.

If Izzy Brown has commanded loan fees for all his placements and the host club is paying his wages then it's a business that makes money for Chelsea. I bet when he's chatting tarts up in Marbs he says he plays for Chelsea though.

Barnes went to Betis and you're right it was an odd move. I remember him coming back and we were playing Huddersfield away . He was on the bench and we had been poor. He came on and in stoppage time at the opposite end to us, the ball was crossed over and he nodded it in at the far post. It made it 2-2 (a point we didn't deserve), which made it even sweeter against them.
Best thing he ever did IMHO. Apart from leave.
