No one can fathom MB when it comes to filling the squad. I figure he must have got a guarantee on Forshaw's fitness and he's happy to keep him tracking Phillips. I mean, it's obvious that he's always liked the guy and it might make him stop tinkering with Koch (sorry) and Struijk. I like what I've seen of James, Bamford will love having him in the team. And Dallas, for me, as one of the top three players last season is all over a PL player. Hoping for a big step up after the break.

My takeaway from this thread is that we are in the position where we are arguing over who is best in which position - in previous years we've been hard pressed to find 11 players we liked.

Dan James? He's fast, brave, full of energy and happy to get the ball and run at defenders. What's not to love about that? He's like a fun sized James Milner.

Struijk? He looked more than adequate when filling in for Phillips. OK, he got shithoused some by Grealish but that's what the greasy cunt does to defenders.

Watching our games on tv, not live like a lot of you, the middle of the pitch is where we seem to get overrun. Sometimes it appears we cede midfield completely. The obvious thing, to me, is to improve in that area. Buy a better player and stick him in there. Buying another winger and moving several players around to accommodate is like 3D chess to me.
Is James an upgrade of Raph? Not for me, not yet.

He’s played more than most expected after going back to Chelsea and he’d be better than getting in nobody, though I could weep every time I see Gallagher at Palace.
