Rutter was exciting, but also frustrating. He wasn’t a perfect 10. We’ve not lost Maradona. Any of the attacking front lads could pick up his role. Brendon, Willy, even James. Solomon surely, yes!

I don’t know that much about Lamazani,Solomon,Tanaka and Schmidt but the snippets I’ve seen certainly leave more cause for optimism.

king_of_the_slums Agree entirely with the No:10 business and who could/can play there. We could have done with a bit more CB cover, though.
Just to be clear, however, Firpo cannot tackle or receive a ball in the defensive third without panicking. Fact. 😉

It’s not my original thought, but what was Bielsa like in getting players to perform to and above the limits of their talent? Roberts, Ayling, Bamford, Phillips are the ones that come to mind that he improved most dramatically. In all those cases, there was something there, but it took his genius to draw it out to greater (Phillips, Bamford) or lesser (Roberts) extent. Then we sacked him and those players reverted to more or less the level they’d been before

Currently we have Joseph and a crocked Bamford as options up front so sacrificing Piroe would have been madness.

The only opinion I've given is that it's sad to see his decline.

The Bielsa stuff is factual, our best run of form was after the Brighton home game, and Roberts started a good number of those games.

Raposa Piroe is not a lone striker, never has been as proved at leeds, he played as double strike force at Swansea that's why he got more goals, something that won't happen under Farke. He's no good as a 10 either, Aaronson or maybe Gnonto will have that role.

14 goals last season and after Christmas he was used mainly as a sub.
19 goals in far more games started the previous season at Swansea.

Sorry mate I agree Hamer would have been a top signing but not to the detriment of weakening elsewhere.
