I know I am biased, but with the Japanese lads you get a solid work ethic and a fair amount of skill for a decent price. Tanaka isn't a rarity, he's basically on brand. He doesn't always make the starting XI for Japan, but is getting included more and more. We've got him at his peak I think. 26 at a J-League club from 8 years old, 4 seasons in Europe, great stats, just been employed at a mid to relegation team and a DM, so off the radar. They took the risk, we'll take the reward. There's a whole squad of these players in Europe now. Christ even the lad at Cov, Sakamoto, looks mustard, and Saito at QPR who scored against us. And they're not in the national side. All on brand, skillful, put a shift in, serious about what they do and offer something different. We of course aim as YPiE says, higher than Cov and QPR, with national side players in Europe.
Morita (30) at Sporting and Keita Nakamura (24) at Reims would be my picks. Doan (35-10&7) at Frielberg would be a level too far and he's right-sided, but why not, we need two Dan James' the season we're facing, at a mid-table European side, speaks fluent English, 17m to get that done mind..
