You may remember the time, Boro at home lat 70s - Yorath did this great interception off a Boro forward, took the ball off the tip of the fellas toe has he was in the penalty area heading towards goal. brilliant. Then tried to pass it, fell on his arse and the ball went straight to an unmarked Boro player who buried it. We lost.

So that's two players from the relegation crew.

I went to a Leeds on the road do recently ( a chance to see Lorimer without asking for an extortionately priced Vodka) and one of the panel said Grayson regret letting midfield dynamo Michael Doyle go!

Where would the blades be without him.

Don't forget,Strachan was paid a Kings ransom to drop down and play for Leeds...same with Vinnie and the rest.

The players we signed that year were still,to a degree,at the top of their game.
The ones we will be looking to sign this summer,will all,no doubt be surplus and probably all have left best days behind them...unless we manage to loan the young "talent" like Bannan and Livermore that is!:lol:

Even if he's past it, at least he's been there to BE past it and knows how to tackle and keep possession. Bet he's on a decent wage though, putting LU out of the equation.

Leeds United chairman Ken Bates expects Neil Kilkenny to leave this summer while Mike Grella and Federico Bessone have been transfer listed.

Kilkenny is out of contract and although it has been mooted that both parties could still concur on new terms, Bates insists Leeds' financial position is unlikely to change.

The Australia international has been a regular in manager Simon Grayson's first team on the back of promotion, but Bates does not believe he will be a Leeds player next season.

Bradley Johnson is another regular who is a free agent this summer, although Bates has again acknowledged that for a deal to be agreed his demands need to be reduced.

Two players set for the Elland Road exit door are Grella and Bessone, who had spells with Swindon Town and Charlton Athletic in League One respectively last term.

Charlton manager Chris Powell has already expressed an interest in keeping former Swansea defender Bessone at The Valley for the new campaign.

The pair are contracted to Leeds next season, but Bates admits they no longer feature in the club's plans and are free to move on during the close season.

"We'll be talking to their agents, but I don't think there'll be any movement on our side. Kilkenny will probably be moving on and we wish him luck," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"Bradley, I don't know. He wants to stay at Leeds and the manager would like him to stay at Leeds but not at the kind of money his agent was looking for.

"Grella will not be playing for us anymore. One or two clubs are looking at him and we won't stand in his way.

"Similarly, Bessone won't be figuring in our plans for next season and already one club has expressed an interest in him. We're a helpful club in that respect.

"If someone doesn't fit into our plans then we sort them out."

Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder Danny Green is a target for a number of clubs this summer.

The 22-year-old, who joined Dagenham from Bishop's Stortford in the summer of 2009, is regarded as one of the best young talents in the lower leagues.

Green inspired the Daggers to promotion from League Two last season and he has impressed in League One this term, scoring 13 goals from midfield.

A host of clubs have been keeping tabs on his progress this season and, with Dagenham suffering relegation, they are ready to pounce for the attacking ace.

Dagenham know they face a battle to keep hold of Green after dropping back down into League Two and there are sure to be no shortage of suitors for the player.

Premier League new boys Norwich, Leeds and Peterborough are all thought to be big admirers of the former Nottingham Forest youngster.

A number of Championship and League One clubs are tracking Mansfield defender Tom Naylor.

Naylor has caught the eye with the Stags this season after bursting onto the scene in January.

The highly-rated 19-year-old has come through the ranks with the Blue Square Premier club and he enjoyed a spell training with Doncaster during pre-season last summer after being spotted by the club's coaching staff.

Naylor, who is entering the final year of his contract, has made 17 appearances for the FA Trophy finalists this term and his performances have not gone unnoticed higher up the football pyramid.

The likes of Leeds, Hull City, Preston, Rochdale and Notts County are all thought to be keeping tabs on Naylor's progress

Johnson has turned down a 3 year deal. Time to say goodbye. There has to be better players out there. Clayton to come back, Nunez to be accomodated, talk of Keith Southern and others too, do we want Johnson on a three year deal? Nah. Maybe the size of the contract reflected that.
