Personally I've always liked Howson, liked him but with reservations over his consistency whilst accepting he's be played all over for the good of the team, often not in his best position. The thing is most on here seemed to rate him as a nice home grown lad who was not quite good enough prior to recent developments. Now we're flogging him he's the future of the club?
Gore's right in so much that we could all do with some perspective on this. Grayson or whoever could have been in his place, needs to do their business in the window. Say Delph comes back on loan and that develop with Snoddy Clayton and the other lonee on the wing and delivers us to the playoffs it will look an inspired bit of business.
We need to see all the ins and outs before pronouncing the corpse dead.
On the other hand if we flog Snoddy lees Clayton etc and bring in a load of dross then I vote we tell the Iranians Bates heats his house burning copies of the Koran
Most fans have 'waited and seen' for the last few years and the spiral is depressingly familiar: sell or let your star players (note I didn't say best) go: Beckford, Gradel, Johnson, Kilkenny, Howson, Kaspar and bring in no one decent to replace them.
The only one of those that could be termed an unequivocal success is Gradel. We bought him for two bob sold him for five bob and got good service in between, mad max head buttery not withstanding. Beckford whilst popping in a load of goals in the third division (it's still the third to me) most on here didn't think he was up to it in the championship let alone the Prem when he was with us.we didn't get a fee for him but he cost us two bob and a pen knife and delivered the goals that got us promoted. Johnson Kilkenny and Kasper were roundly slagged off on here when playing for us, Johnson's first touch, kilkenny's lack of bottle, Kasper too short and with his dads arrogance but not his ability, too short to boot.
Clayton was bought to replace Kilkenny and Johnson. Not up to it on arrival and sent out on loan. Since his return better than either on the evidence I've seen which admittedly is not that much out here and his form has been poor recently. He looks a proper player mind, Kilkenny and Johnson always looked like they had bits missing.
Howson? Well the juryis out on prem ability, we'll see. I suspect he'll be a classic West Brom player, flatters to deceive in the championship, not quite good enough in the premiership.
