[b]Sky Sports understands Leeds United are bringing Fabian Delph back to Elland Road on loan from Aston Villa.[/b]
The England under-21 international is poised to return for a month to the club he left in a big money deal in August 2009. He could return to the starting line-up against Ipswich Town on Saturday if paperwork can be finalised.
The talented midfielder began his career with the Whites, making 46 league appearances, before joining Villa.
He was a regular for Villa in the first half of the season, but has not played since December and has been made available for loan by Alex McLeish.
Leeds manager Simon Grayson has yet to confirm the deal but told the club's official website earlier this week about his admiration for the midfielder.
"Fabian Delph is a good player who knows about Leeds United because he has been here before," he said.

Delph made his name at Elland Road before a £6m transfer to Villa but he suffered a cruciate ligament injury the following year and has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular under Alex McLeish.
McLeish said: "He started seven or eight in a row for us at the start of the season but we've been looking for somebody to give us eight out of 10 performances every week.
"Some of the lads have given some good performances but not quite got to the peak of their powers, and Delph admits that."
McLeish, meanwhile, has left the door open to a deal between Leeds and Eric Lichaj but warned that any transfer involving the right-back would include a recall clause.
Lichaj - who was on loan at Elland Road last season - is among United's targets after recovering from hip surgery.
McLeish said: "We'd consider letting Eric go on loan as well. We'll think about that one but we'll probably look for call-back rather than letting him go out until the end of the season."[/quote]

Delph, a better midfield player in my opinion in on loan for anywhere between a month an until the end of the season. Delph is a better player but he's only on loan for a month. Will that be till the end of the season? Maybe maybe not. Some more cynical than me think its just a rouse to get the wavering to renew their season tickets.
£2m for a player out of contract is good. But if he had 3 years on his contract how much more could we have got for our asset.
The thing that pisses most off is that fact that these players: Howson, Beckford, Gradel and indeed Johnson were not on longer contracts then we would be able to dictate a larger transfer fee. Who knows if we'd kept Beckford, Johnson and Gradel we could have been in the premiership this year and been moaning about being in the bottom 3.

Howson doesn't want to go to Norwich, he'd prefer a more northern club. Was told that the other players, led by Snoddy, were taking the piss out of him for going to Norwixh and that they wore black armbands as a jest. NOT because he was leaving but for the death of his career at Norwich!
The Delph 'signing' has been possibly on the cards for a while hasn't it though, whether we sold or kept certain players? He's not Platini but he defo was one of the players I really enjoyed watching play for us. Was far from brilliant too many times but still, he'd be a big addition to a very lacking midfield imho.

To, it's the end of the world because we flogged him for good money when his contract was running down. somebody further back was suggesting that we are somehow shite at signing long term contracts on players against other clubs at our level. I don't agree, I believe it simtamatic of where we are at in terms of lower league talent and clubs and an agent driven market. No player in the championship or the upper reaches of league one should be signing a long term contract. To do so when you are one good season away from signing a prem contract on disproportionate wedge plus a potential golden hello would be madness.
Bates is a cunt, that much is indisputable. That he is a fiscal / business moron, well that 's another matter. The marriage of business imperative to fan expectation is of course the trick he is woefully failing at right now. That of course is probably the most important role the chairman should play. Though I don't feel inclined to be kind to him, I think it fair to note that he was always going to be loathed due to his Chelsea connections. That and the fact he is so gobby. Add this to the admin, whether he was architect of victim is hardly relevant, he was in the buck stops here role at the time. Well, you get my drift.
Eleven days of the window left. We need to retain the rest of the talent in the squad, dump the dead wood and bring in a couple more quality additions, long term lone loan or permanent.

AHH, I'm with you brother. Beckford was and is a player who has pace and can finish but when he went we got goals from all over the place as you have to play a certain way to benefit from his talents. Gradel was as libel to get sent off as he was to score a goal sometomes and Pugh is a much more solid if not as spectacular player with bags of experience, much of it int he Prem. Schmeichel / Lonergan - meh!
Two players who should be playing and we have suffered for their being out are OB and Bruce.
