Was watching Lords of Dogtown earlier , fuck, thats two ZBoys gone within weeks of each other. did you watch thst doc about him we were on about a bit ago ? Had his demons didn't he , Stacy Perelta reckoned he was lucky to still be alive back then. Really sad that , one of those that didn't rake in fortunes when he could , just loved doing what he did.

One of the original Zephyr skate team from Dogtown in LA in the early 70's. The team also featured Stacy Peralta (who went on to create and film the Bones Brigade team - i.e. Tony Hawk) and Tony Alva and a load of other skaters who are more or less 'idols' to younger generations. These kids more or less created the skateboard culture we know today and Adams was the personification of skating to skate. He didn't do the big deals, endorsements etc just skated and went off the rails, Jay 'Bad boy' Adams … so the hero/legend to the skate community. No doubting the effect skateboarding has on todays and previous youth culture. As on other posts, watch the Dogtown film, the Z boys documentary (below clip) & the Bones Brigade films, show them to your kids. In an age of internet, i-phones, fucking selfless, pictures of someone's dinner... its refreshing to see people really making it happen and inspire others. Well worth a watch Placid even if you were never into skateboards , amazing how much was caught on film when they were in their early teens or even younger . Jay Adams never cashed in as much as he could , the others have amassed fortunes. Adams had a tough life , drugs , fights , jail and bore the scars .

Saturday tea time -keeping away from the scores all afternoon , and if you couldn't wait until match of the day your choice was either the letter by letter vidiprinter for the suspense which I loved or the equally loved voice of James Alexander Gordon ,with his intimations , second guessing the results as he read them out. He was great.
