My lad, 21, was in tears at this. Saw his first band there, as a 13 yr old who sneaked in with his mates. He also got monumentally pissed - throwing up all the way through town out of the car window. Oh, how his Mum laughed.
The whole thing stinks (the closure) and is so fucking sad.

Saw White Stripes at Cockpit, Pigeons a few times as them is mates. Missed Steve Harley twice which pissed me off no end.

Something will fill the gap as Cockpit did for Duchess. Something more central than Brudenell. Too much demand for it to not. Joseph's Well could raise it's profile a bit. New Roscoe gets a few better quality tribute types on for us oldies.

The angst is there cos I love the venue. The curved arch roof. That tunnel eyed vision of the band on stage. I love the brudenell. I like all the venues but I like the cockpit the most. And bricks and mortar are important to me. I like the nostalgia. Can't help it just do.

On the walls of the cockpit bar are loads of framed ticket stubs. Loads of bands I've seen and loads I wish I had.

And it's proximity to the train station for last train home like I said.

I saw this morning about the key club. Also read how futuresound are not being nostalgic they are just pushing on which is fair enough.

Will they ever sort the trains out? Doubt it. Why a last train can't be half 11 is beyond me.

That was my first thought but then you never know, he might have been knocked off his bmx or summat. No reports on it yet. Very sad, he was a cracking guitarist and top fella it seemed. RIP

Didn't he leave the band 2006 ish though? Had he been brought back into the fold for the recent screamadelica gigs?

Cracking guitarist he was though from the jingley Crystal Crescent/Velocity girl days through to the big big riffs of Loaded and Get your Rocks off.

Sir Donald Sinden bizarrely. Always came across as a kind of second class cad - never reached the level of caddishness of the Master Terry Thomas or even Lesley Phillips. I always found his TV and film output irredeemably dull and safe. By all accounts it was theatre in which he excelled and his work for the RSC must be what gained him his knighthood. The funniest thing I ever heard about him was that he suffered from 'negative bouyancy' which meant he would would sink (positive sinkiness?). He only discovered this when filming one of the sinking sequences in The Cruel Sea.

Well to be honest Placid most of his reading revolved around neo-nazi conspiracy theories ()'did six million really die? springs to mind as one of his favourites). Whilst Bobby was reading Glen was practising.

Ha! Match that with my attire when I saw you in the smoke! Had a Blazer at school and not since I have a few seersucker jackets for when I'm trying to be in between Worzel Gummidge - my natural state- that you saw me in; and bespoke suits which is for business and I do tend to enjoy.

No horse brasses though the walls are adorned with paintings and chalks of horses, that's more to do with mrs AHH's equestrian obsessions and no small talent with a brush etc.
