I'm guessing that one by one we will all chronicle one another's passing until only one is left. My random guess it will be twopointslost but that is a grand national pin in the paper kind of punt. Whoever is left to turn out the lights should leave no recriminating evidence.

Then there will be those who pass unbeknown to others they just fall silennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Blaming cockpit on the estate of the building , not sure who landlord is but sounds like they were happy to coin it in but not invest back. Wonder why the council doesn't help out with stuff like this , it brings in visitors , cultural , vibrant. In wakefield the council ploughs endless millions into an art gallery very few people visit. Having said that an old venue is re opening , Unity House as a social enterprise , 700 capacity which is great for the city.Real shame though the cockpit , hope they get another similar venue and keep it going.

I've heard the council own it. And if you read some blogs there are a few people mentioning how it's the taxpayers money that has funded the arena and they wont put money into another venue. Apparently the council have just spent half a million on mikes carpets? If it's the council who won't spend then I wish something could be done. Some sort of fight. Sounds like futuresound have given up and are opening another venue. I would really like to fight this. Also it's proximity to the train station is ace. The last train home for me is about 10 past 11. You try catching that after loads of beer up at say, the uni. When they announced the arena I doubted I would ever go there but stupidly thought they might delay the last train times. Most bands finish at 11. 10 to 15 mins from the Merrion centre to catch the train is a joke. Proper pissed off at this. The duchess gone, Queens hall gone, now the cockpit. This shouldn't be allowed to happen

Even worse if it's the council , thought it might be network rail or private landlord. The council back their own stuff , they won't let them fail. Chances are they want them out and this forces their arm. See what happens to the space - bet this time next year it's been redeveloped.

My lad, 21, was in tears at this. Saw his first band there, as a 13 yr old who sneaked in with his mates. He also got monumentally pissed - throwing up all the way through town out of the car window. Oh, how his Mum laughed. The whole thing stinks (the closure) and is so fucking sad.

Saw White Stripes at Cockpit, Pigeons a few times as them is mates. Missed Steve Harley twice which pissed me off no end. Something will fill the gap as Cockpit did for Duchess. Something more central than Brudenell. Too much demand for it to not. Joseph's Well could raise it's profile a bit. New Roscoe gets a few better quality tribute types on for us oldies.
