Truly believe part of this Bowie period of mourning iis in part because it makes you think of your own mortality. Imagine what it would have been like if the www was around when Lennon was shot, or when Elvis died?
Now that the dust has settled and a few days have passed I can see what you mean by 'your own mortality'. I play something by Bowie at least once a month but watched and listened to all sorts this week. In the majority of chat shows he seemed very funny and charming and I suppose it's easy to say when someone has died, but no-one seemed to have a bad word to say about him. You just assume he'd always be around. I usually check the BBC news on my phone when I wake up and that blurry eyed moment last Monday will stay with me forever. Felt like I'd been punched in the stomach and couldn't catch my breath. Still hard to believe to be honest
