Meet in Fax. Out to Mytholmroyd, up Cragg Vale, nice descent into Littleborough, double back into Tod and then back to town. Either that or go the other way at the top, fly down Blackstone Edge Road into Ripponden. Super quick down that road. Can struggle up Norland Bank that way as well. We'll work something out. Have to be 1pm-ish. Mrs out first thing.

I've just remembered I've arranged to go to the Rugby Sunday and it's an early kick off, we will have to sort something for the future.

I've had weeks of sun and no wind, all the time suffering with man flu. Feeling better, out today when the Mrs gets back, 12-ish. It's fucking pissing it down.

Over 5 hours today. Home to Brighouse, canal to Copley, climb through the woods. Passed two teenagers pushing (Young Upstarts 0 Mamils 1). Norland descent, really quick until the last 25m of so when the trail becomes a stream with rocks the size of shoe boxes and usually sends me off the edge or over the bars. Just brought me to a dead stop today. I think I've turned a corner with the downhill bits. Actually putting all the stuff I learnt from Ed Oxley to use and it works. Dead simple, just getting there that takes time and thought.Towpath again to Hebden, climbed Horsehold which is unbelievably steep, over 1km and becomes cobbles at the top. There were a load of kids who must have doing the Duke of Edinburgh or something. Never underestimate the motivational power of not wanting to look a twat in front of teenagers.Pennine Bridleway to London Road passing below Stoodley Pike and then the long descent into Mankinholes. Doubled back towards Hebden down some quick singletrack and then the long slog home on the towpath. Was fucked by Sowerby. Man-flu has kept me off the bike for 3 weeks or so (did a light one last week) and it caught up with me.I kept remembering what my pal who does the Ironmans and stuff says. When that feeling hits you've at least another hour in you! Rode through the pain and discomfort and got home feeling fucking mint. I know a lot have said in on THD's thread but it really works.Lovely stuff.

That's good going that. The weather must have been shite. I haven't been out on mine four nearly 2weeks now apart from the turbo!

Proper four seasons in a day stuff. Sun with a light shower when I set off but not warm so three layers. Sun came out. Got to Hebden and as I climbed it started pissing it down. Sideways rain up at Stoodley and then sunny again on the trip home.Nicely knackered tonight. Back on the spin sessions this week. Going to get proper stuck in, carry on where I left off.

Having a spot of bother with the PMs but I'll mail it out Thursday. Much respect Little Billy Bremner.

Back on the spin sessions properly this week. I was 'over-gearing' tonight apparently. Team Sky use it a lot I'm told. All I know is it's fucking hard work.

I had one of the best rides today for a longtime. The weather was perfect not too hot or cold, and not much wind. We drove down the m4 into deepest valleys wales. Just north of Bridgend. I nearly lost my bike to down the m4. I said the bike is wobbling a bit. The next minute it bent and was hanging off the side of the roof carrier. Luckily it was on tight at the wheels!Anyway after chucking it in the back we met up with two other bods who are doing the London to Paris 24hrs with in the summer. So we headed up the Ogmore valley and straight on to the Bwlch mountain. Great climbing of about 4miles to the top. Then down the otherside with switchbacks and all sorts. Great. Then through some place with a welsh name up on to the Rhigos, another mountain. This was slightly longer but not as steep, but what a view from the top. The downhill was mentally fast. I reached 67kph the fastest I have been. Then a nice run of about 15miles into Neath. A nice lasagne for lunch, they didn't have any chips! Sat in the sun. Back onto it and straight into another hill, with some seriously steep ups and down after that, and some planning twat had decided to put some traffic calming at the bottom of the dip and I nearly ended in the back of an old grannies polo! After this bit it was a nice steady gradient up the the Bwlch again and me legs were feeling the best they have been, and by the time we got on the road up to the top I was flying up on the rivet and only started hurting a bit towards the top of the 6 mile climb, but I still had another gear in the back pocket which helped. I then had a rest at the top and watched the others climbing up. A great sense of achievement glorying in the sun. Then back down the first climb we did in the morning and it was ace just free wheeling down taking in the day and scenery, and back on the cycle path for a smooth run in back to the cars. Anyway a great day with 91k done, with some sound blokes. One of the mushes had only bought a bike in Feb and he was going over mountiains, hell of an acheivement. I am actually starting to think I can get this bastard ride done.

Found every hill in NJ today I reckon. Got lost, was off out for an hour, got in closer to 3 hours later. Had a look on one of those map my ride type sites and it looks at a cat's cock hair under 40 miles. Got stuck into the milk and biscuits straight away when I got home. Went through the same junction all 4 ways before I figured out where I was. Almost ended up on Rte 78 at one point and I280 which is a bit like the M1 or M62 in parts. Ache like fuck now but it clears the head a bit. I'm done with riding in the ghetto it's all Madison and Florham Park, Milburn etc from here on in. Found some good roads but did a bit too much on major roads for my liking. Think I could do 100 miler reasonable eaily. Who knows but I'm happy with only my second trip out in since probably early December. Anyone got a link to Paris Roubaix highlights?
