Being a courrier / messenger was the free-est job I ever had. Still know lads who are doing it as they can't face anything else
Young_Marxist_at_Tescos
Far more bottle than I've got TT. Fancy I can still get up and down, but not like them lads.

I'd love to know when they found The Brooklyn Bridge so quiet. I've been in foot traffic jams at midnight on there. I reckon you're the quiet hard man of OMJs cycling Young Marxist. Although some of these lads set the bar pretty high. Why do these people insit on putting such shit music to bike videos? I've only seen one that had decent music, Doves at Hebden Bridge.

Can you ask him about the tyres? I've got Schwalbes on at the moment that came with the bike. They're utterly shit in mud which isn't great as we have a fair bit of it. Would normally go back to Contis as I've always used them but loads rave about the new WTB tyres.Cheers
CharlieG
His tyres are WTB Vigilante 2.8's(!) - says that they seem pretty predictable and decent, so far, after 2 rides in Calderdale. He says the Contis (Barons?) reviewed in ST 103 are the office "go to" tyres for local riding.
Travis_Bickle
You can tell they get 'em cheap. The Der Baron Projekts are £55! A tyre!Up Saddleworth way yesterday...Marsden Moor descent. We took the road to get there after the first descent as the trail over the tops was a mudfest.Finished with Boat Lane. One of my favourite descents. Really quick, rocky as fuck, rattle the fillings out of your teeth. Happy days....

But chuffed with myself. Long, steady; unrelenting climbs.. I was sloooowwww… but steady cadence got me there in the end.

Was up that way on Friday, Travis.Marsden, Upermill, Greenfield then back over the top to Holmfirth. Tough as fuck on the road, Christ knows how you manage off it. Top effort.

Did you ever hear anything about the bike you had nicked Trav?
Travis_Bickle
Got the mountain bike frame back. Bloke bought it off Dewsbury Market. It had been completely stripped. And for some reason they cut off the mount for the rear disc brake. No idea why. They weren't seized or anything. He looked up the frame online and found a tweet and a post I'd put on here about it. Sent me a PM on here and gave me the frame back.Road bike gone for good. Scoured eBay and the like but nothing. Insurance laid up for new equivalent of both. Bought the Orange 5 with the brass.

Perfect day? Not where I was sitting. Flat 40 and I was towing my rocks off in that breeze. Wednesday was a better day; same distance, hilly and I pissed it. Not a breath of wind.

Not a breath of wind.
I meant for riding a 'proper' bike ;)Funny actually, riding up from Shelf to Queensbury, road gets steep-ish for a bit, some roadies came past saying 'rather you than me' given my tyres are 2.3s. Slow and steady means the wind doesn't matter as much. I'm going 1x11 on the MTB soon when I've got the brass (32t at the front, 10-42t at the back). Mate did it, XT everything, BB, chain, cassette, rear mech and shifter for under £300. 1x11 was well over a grand when they launched it. Sram have just announced a new 1x12 MTB groupset, 10-50t on the back, cassette's as big as a fucking BMX wheel. Anyway I've not used the granny ring in weeks. Been good for the legs to be honest.I know LBB was out today. I need to get out with him on the hills soon, have the Etape Du Dales in May and the C2C in a Day in 3 months. Not sure about the latter, haven't got anywhere near the miles in yet.
Young_Marxist_at_Tescos
A 10-50 cassette?! You'd need a rear mech like a baboon's arm and an 8 foot chain
Travis_Bickle
Google it. Mech's nearly on the rim. I don't see why you'd need it. Mates have 10-42t with 30t or 32t up front and they get up everything round here. I like the idea of one shifter and no front mech. Some fads are just that. But I see the sense in 1x11. Dropper post has been a revelation as well. Definitely not just a fad.
