To rub salt into the wound, he takes delivery of another long term test bike on Sunday. All £7k's worth of it....:/http://www.intensecycles.com/bikes/spider-275c
Mate had the last Tracer. To be honest I reckoned it was a lot of money for not enough bike. Something seemed to go wrong almost every ride. I'm no expert but it was like they lived on a name. And his was red. And all red bikes are shit.....
Full carbon everything - even the rear triangle. I wouldn't dare ride it.

My 5000 miles in a year is in tatters, illness, weather and soft bastardness have thwarted me.

Nice. Went out Sunday. Some t*** had put wire across the trail at Shibden. I saw it in time and braked. Moved it the side of the trail. Another local bloke hit it at about 20mph (we reckon someone put it back after it was moved). They'd strung it across the trail at about 20cm up. Utter c***s. A lot of it about now. I know some MTB riders can be a bit of a pain but you could kill someone doing what some of these people do. Boulders put on a blind bend at Raistrick woods, loads of it going on.Beautiful ride though. Hot even though I went out at 5.30. Going to be a good summer.....

You could try for attempt GBH. Attempted murder is regarded as the most difficult crime to prove as you have to establish an intent to kill. An intent to cause really serious harm (GBH/wounding) will suffice for murder.I seem to remember a case about someone digging a pit and then covering it but can't recall how it was charged without looking it up. For an attempt you have to show that the act was more than merely preparatory.Police are aware of what went on. Happening a lot. Apparently the council are treating the stones laid on the trail at Raistrick as criminal damage of the wall that borders it and have informed the cops.

Can't wait to get out again but it does make you wary. Thinking of trying the infamous 'Stannys' trail at the weekend. Pretty sure I know where it is.

The lad had a fantastic time at Fort Bill. Got to ride some cracking, less well travelled trails, too.Next stop Morzine, more bike launches and racing in the Passport de Soliel. It's called "working", apparently.

Another one bit the dust this week for c2c trav. Wayne pulled out :/

I thought he was mad keen?I'm not doing it.I'll be honest, deciding not to hasn't really bothered me. Normally I'd be beating myself up etc but I haven't got the miles in and so there's no point.I'm getting a road ride in once a week with one of the parent's from my daughter's school but other than that it's been MTB all the way. Haven't really missed the road stuff. At the moment I'd happily ride the MTB every day if I could.

I'm more than happy just walking the dog. Got a nice gadget that just clips my bike to the wall in the hallway and it looks fine so no rush to get back out. Will definitely get back out soon though before the stella takes over. Dales beer festival no 2 this weekend in less than a month. This country life is hard work !! I need my weekly trip to London now to relax.....

Much bike fettling this week. The MTB is now 1 x 10 (30/11-36) with a Hope narrow/wide and a clutch rear mech. The summer/best road bike now sports Ultegra 11speed with Zipp service course bar and stem and Lizard Skin bar tape. The most difficult bit of all this shenanigans was getting the fucking bar tape sorted - absolute bastard, it was.

The lad has been riding an ebike, amongst others, over the last two days, with Focus.Currently at Crankworx and "hanging" with Hans Rey......

Had a quick go on one last time we were at Gisburn. Quite good fun flying up a fire road like I was on a motorbike but not sure I'd buy one until I'm in my 60-70s and can't get up hills anymore.Day out at Hebden cancelled today. Out tomorrow instead. Should be able to blag a day off this week. Might go and ride somewhere different, maybe Shipley Glen.Keep looking at 'hardcore hardtails'. Can't really afford one but eBay is tempting....

Thinking about getting back in MTB. I do a fair bit of road biking, but its about time I interspersed some trail racing methinks.Would appreciate any thoughts on decent bike (maybe up to a grand??? but cheaper obviously better!!!) and hard tail or sus??? Probably leaning toward hard tail at the moment.. keep it simple, I reckon.Any input?
Travis_Bickle
Depends on what kind of riding you want to do? And where you'll be riding.Round our way, you need something fairly robust whether you go down the hardtail or full-sus route. If you're riding is more XC, fire roads and farm tracks etc, then the lighter the better is the way forward.Boardman always do well in group tests. Voodoo bikes from Halfords are the same. 29er bikes are good if you're not going too technical. Bigger wheels, better rolling over the trails. They only lose out when stuff gets really technical, allegedly. This is a lot of bike for a grand...http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/mountain-bikes/boardman-mountain-bike-pro-29erThis bike used to win all the £500 tests...http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/mountain-bikes/voodoo-hoodoo-mountain-bikeNot sure what the fork is like.if you're keeping it fairly easy going off road there's something to be said for saving weight and going for rigid forks. Cheap suspension forks can be heavy and not give a right lot in return. If I was getting back into MTBs from the road I'd give this serious consideration...http://www.marinbikes.com/gb/bikes/description/2016-pine-mountain-1Lot of bike for £750. I'll have a think and see what else I can come up with
