Got Heaton, Bunnymen tickets.

Blood Orange ... never been to a gig with so many screaming girls. Really didnt expect that to be their crowd but YP Jnr explained that a couple of their tracks went viral viral on TikTok ... whatever that means .

The gig ? Dev Hynes is a crazy talented musician and along with his band reminds me of Prince. Aesthetically he's no frills . The mix of him playing guitar and Moog keyboard at the same time, along with the bassist and drummer make some great, almost hardcore sounds but they lose me with the vocals which are too fey for me.

Mrs YP loved it so brownie points for me 😁

Jon isn't it just - years of booze and fags have obviously done for his voice and i get the feeling now he's just going through the motions - but interest to hear @fulmine's view of the regents park gig later this month

Didn't get to see them but here you go @Anchor

SFA felt a bit muted on Saturday at the Moseley Folk Festival. Never thought I'd say that and ive seen them loads over the years. They played almost the entire set in darkness with very little lighting on stage, minimal interaction with the crowd and seemed to be going through the motions. They sounded good still, I've just never seen them seem so flat, like they were bored or there was something up. I thought perhaps they might be knackered from playing all summer.

I saw loads of bands over the weekend that I'd never heard of and loved though. There were loads of Irish bands this year. Young people playing Irish Folk music very, very well. My favourites were The Wran and Madra Salach. The Wran were on right before Super Furries and generated a great atmosphere. It was rammed and people were well up for it then the atmosphere just dropped with SFA and loads of people had left by the end.

Jon

fuzzy Shame that. Such a great band.

Odd_Job

fuzzy love that Madra Salach

fuzzy

Odd_Job That "The Man Who Seeks Pleasure" song they do sounded mint!

Both Madra Salach and the Wran played (on consecutive days) around the time dusk was coming in and had a great, trippy vibe to them that proper lifted the atmosphere.

Watch this from 4 mins in. The finale was absolutely brilliant. The lad on the mandolin then banjo towards the end was superb.

@cordshoes -Stevie Wonder Manchester 8th November

Songs in the Key of Life 50th Anniversary tour

Jon

Flaneur How much were tickets? There no point even trying to get a half decent ticket here the way Ticketmaster works and the prices at MSG for any seat you wouldn’t need binoculars in.

Flaneur

Jon I'm not sure how much tickets are, they go on general sale on Friday.

This is from The Scotsman newspaper; "To see Stevie Wonder in Glasgow, ticket prices will range from £101 to £208 for standard, or from £249.75 to £264.75 for venue premium. These prices include an admin fee but not fulfilment."

We are lucky. My wife's company has just been bought and a forthcoming partner has a box there and she asked them this morning. Tickets sent across, plus two more for the Obama 'gig'.

YoungParisian_inExile

Jon Ticketmaster are now no more than glorified and legitamized touts/ scalpers .
I prefered haggling and buying off them.

For Tame Impala they advertised one price but when you try and buy the seat it changed to verified resale and higher price even though Tame Impala insisted that all tickets had to sell at face value …

Snowy

Kurt Vile - Mcr, this Friday.

Jon

Flaneur Lucky you.

cordshoes

Flaneur You jammy bastard re getting these decent tickets.

Tell your lovely lady that if you could sing you would have composed Isn't She Lovely just for her. 😇😄

Jon

YoungParisian_inExile I preferred actually going to a venue or record store to buy physical tickets.
I was something like number 284,000 in the queue for Gorillaz* tickets for MSG. Sure. Five minutes later, Verified Resellers as far as the eye can see.
Thankfully, I’m old and there’s not many bands left I really want to see. It must be shite for the kids who are passionate music fans today.

*One of my daughters is a bit of a fan before you ask.
