Travis_Bickle 2.26.04. Pissing it down at the start. Couldn't feel my hands when I set off. Had a moment at about 6 and my back hurt like hell from about 10 miles but the last bit running to the finish was brilliant. Definitely doing another. Just need to sort this lower back again. People on the course are great. Very nice vibe to it all
Loose_Lips Awful start. Really terrible. Poorly managed and we were all out there far too long. Superb when we got going though. Very little left at 11 miles. Too few long runs on the weekends but happy with 2:03
Travis_Bickle Loose_Lips Great time that LL. I was hoping for 2.15. Next time. The back is okay 90% of the time but when it plays up it means it tightens across the shoulders and then I get the sciatic stuff down my left leg. I don't think it slowed me down massively if I'm being honest, just preys on the mind a bit. I know what you mean about the start. Given the differences in starting times, I recon they could have had a 9.15 assemble time for E-G at least. I need to work out pacing a bit. I think I went off too quick (classic beginner's mistake) and then it caught up with me later. Really. really enjoyed it though.
Precinct_Boy Travis_Bickle Did they have the pacers today ? Last years Liverpool half i stayed with the 2.20 pacer then felt good with a mile to go and pushed it to achieve a pb
Travis_Bickle Fundraising total just hit £1500. Had a great day but this is the icing on the cake and all that..... https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/matthew-harding-2
Loose_Lips Travis_Bickle My first ever half. Missed out by twelve seconds for sub 2 hours. 6 miles up, 6 miles down. Plus a bit more. Great run but tough.
Precinct_Boy Loose_Lips My first as well and still the most enjoyable although im probably biased, took me 2 hours 35 !
Travis_Bickle Was out on the MTB at the weekend so first run last night since the half. And the first with the Garmin. Did just over 3 miles. By some fluke I managed to end up with a pace of exactly 10 minute miles. Not by design as on some of the hills it was 11.30! No headphones for the watch yet so no music. Quite enjoyed it actually.
Jon Came 5th in the over 50s in a 5k this morning. Ran 4 laps round our local track last week and felt totally knackered. Weird that isn’t it? Not the feeling knackered but the managing to finish a 5k the week after. First 5 minutes or so I was on twitter following time added on at Hillsborough. Hurt my left calf early and knew if I stopped I’d be done. Killing now. All in all a good morning. Did it with the youngest. Cool to do something together. Got a massive hug at the finish line after. Dads of teenage girls will know how precious things like that are. Think I could improve my time just with a bit of training but I’m not sure I could run further.
Harvest Cap doffed. Time I got my arse out there. 2009 running trainers are still fashionable I assume?
