Inspired by watching Kin and Love/Hate, I’m reading Clash of the Clans: the Rise of the Kinahan Mafia and Boxing’s Dirty Secret by Nicola Tallant. Some interesting bits, but not enjoying the way it’s written really. Not sure how much is true as to her involvement in the story, but she puts herself in it a lot. To be fair, a female journalist was murdered so perhaps it’s not unreasonable. 🤷🏻♂️
Just ordered The Detective Up Late by Adrian McKinty. It’s the latest (seventh) in his Sean Duffy series, which I’m sure is bound to have been mentioned at some stage on here. If not, highly recommended. It’s about a Catholic RUC officer during The Troubles. Brilliantly written, great characters, witty dialogue and puts it in historical context starting with Stakeknife in 1981 and the last one was 1988 I think, so looking forward to it. Two more planned and think that’ll be it. Amazing they weren’t popular and he’d decided to give up writing, but then had success with The Chain and The Island, neither of which are half as good.
