Just finished Easy Riders, Raging Bulls. I thought it was a good book but not a Great book, the stories of the main director's and were good, Bogdanovich, a nasty immature person, Coppola lost his mind on and after Apocalypse and Spielberg was a bit of a nerd and always trying to keep up with the latest trends and failing. But i found the failings in this book were the stories on some of the producers, script writers and friends, wives etc, it got a bit messy and i was constantly looking at the back of the book at the list of characters to remind me who they were. Also the structure wasn't great, he wrote about one subject then it skips to another which didn't have any connection then back again then to a subject 3, not great.
I must say that this was a great era for films, and i will be watching some that were listed in here. The success of Star wars and Jaws certainly started the rise of blockbusters and superhero films, was this the death of great serious films we used to have ?
There are some characters in it that are worth reading about in their own right, Coppola, Scorsesse, didn't realise what he was like and the Schrader brothers, very odd pair.
