Young_Marxist_at_Tescos I was oblivious to any Leeds music scene. Also really wanted to do a fanzine but I had absolutely no idea how to go about it. Lost.
Used to see him in the Poly and Uni bars at gigs. I really wanted to ask him how he went about it but he always appeared unapproachable. Funny how wrong you can be about someone.

How to back horses and yourself - Andy Fletcher (recommended to me by Superga for those from TR days). Very interesting so far and quite amusing.
The other book I got for Christmas is This is Memorial Device by David Keenan (recommended by a mate who knows the author). Anyone read it? It’s a fictional account of the Airdrie post-punk scene. Looks decent and definitely up my street.

AndreWeimaraner Bought Memorial Device after reading the initial hoopla on, I think, the Caught By The River website. Genuinely thought I must have bought a different book because I found it so monumentally shit. I went to reread it about a year or so back thinking maybe I’d missed something but it seems it’s one of the books I’d donated to the annual school book fare.

AndreWeimaraner I liked it. Reminded me of those small town weirdos who are never part of the big city scenes. There was a couple of those I knew of growing up in Glossop.

Kevin_Stapleton This is the key to reading it. You just transpose the characters from your own small town into the narrative; kids who are in two bands at once. Big talkers who never do much. Lads who are at every gig you go to, etc.,

Cant go wrong with Monsieur Greene. This was a sort of a biography but looking back at his writing.
A charity shop special, but I like what he stands for , his discipline, understanding & humanity make him stand out. One of the best writers we have produced I reckon.
