Just finished The Revenant by Michael Punke. Good read. Especially for this time of year when the season feels a bit bleak. Could be worse like, you could be crawling through the snow after being ravaged by a bear. Sort of thing.
I re-watched the film. It's also very good. However, it differs from the plot of the book a lot. That bit where he falls off the cliff on his horse when getting chased by "injuns" then guts the dead horse and gets inside it for a sleep, to keep warm. That wasn't in the book. Imagine waking up then opening your eyes and you're peering out of a dead horse's chest cavity trying to piece together how you got there. "Oh what a night".
At the end of the book there is a bit about the historical records on Hugh Glass. He did get attacked by a bear in 1823, survive and somehow make his way 100s of miles. Some story that.
