Young_Marxist_at_Tescos Jon Think that was the last-ever edition. I was only contributing by then. Started it 40 years ago this week
Under-the-ground Just finished Songlines by Bruce Chatwin. Starts brilliant & the concept is really strong & very well written. Then dips 2thirds in with loads of quotes, but he does get it back. A great travel writer and recommended
Jon Well, I enjoyed it. The fanzine years are infinitely more interesting than the Loaded stuff for me. Takes me back to the counter at Jumbo and the student bars of the poly and uni. A great accompaniment to Jim’s memoir. Also pisses me off just how much ‘rubbish’ I once had that my Mam saw fit to throw out. Arh, well.
Young_Marxist_at_Tescos Jon Every word of this ⬆️ Enjoyed reading it more than Animal House, in the same way I preferred Bzag to loaded.
Young_Marxist_at_Tescos Odd_Job Ah, it was very much of its time. I haven’t got enough back issues and I wouldn’t do it without the say so of co-editor, who is sadly no longer with us.
Kevin_Stapleton Odd_Job Enjoyed that. Felt like a magazine padded out into a book but very good all the same.
90Piesanhour Mental book that I got in a local charity shop, which includes suggestions on using turkey basters filled with hot oil as well as car doors and bikes as weapons against an attacker.
