I have no issues with the club finances. Last season we ran at a profit of £5 million, one of only two clubs in the Prem to post a profit. This years player purchases will obviously be offset with player sales. You have to remember that we're not getting the full dollar value in a lump sum for either of them, so I doubt if there is a Scrooge McDuck style room of gold that Radz swims around in. I reckon Radz is a shrewed character and this year will also be ran at around a zero net - with either a small profit or a small loss. Philips and Rapha have probably financed the net transfers for a couple of years.

Just remind the nylon whiners about that fucking goldfish tank.

We can’t be certain of this, Kinnear was asked this specific question about sale values being too low. He gave a very good and detailed answer about the factors that affect a transfer value. He can’t tell us about the deals done because both would certainly be covered by an NDA.

My reading of that was that we likely got a large percentage of the fee paid up front for one, possibly both (it felt like he was trying to tell us it was this, but couldn’t). As he said, deals are normally paid over 5 years, so if inflation runs at 10%, you lose a lot. 45 mill now or 55-60 mill over 5 years with inflation at 10%. This was likely their choice.(these are rough numbers, but you get the jist)
