Ha ha ha ha - i'm off out to break my ankle.
That's them jockies for you. I spent best part of 10 years up there working, clubbing and DJing and the scottish appetite for narcotics never ceased to amaze me.
There was one time a bunch of E's were knocking people over down south so they shipped them up to Edinburgh - you couldn't get hold of them for love nor money that weekend in Scotland. The sweaties had done the lot.
Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings the early bars like the Phoenix or the Penny Black or the Walk-in were mobbed with post clubbers drinking and chopping out lines of whizz on the pub tables. Nobody gave a fuck. Dibble weren't bothered because that way they knew where everyone was and they weren't doing any harm (except to themselves).
The only one I remember being shut down was the Boundary bar on the Edinburgh Leith border down the walk where the Leith half the pub had extended hours so everyone was shoved up in that corner. The place got shut down as the landlady was knocking out smack from behind the counter.
fuzzy thought this thread was going to be a Diana Ross cover song, so pleasantly surprised.
Just booked a train ticket to Scotland to jump off a 2 storey roof.
Djpekingman I did my Masters at Stirling Uni 99/2000. I love the Scottish psyche in general and their relaxed approach to recreational activities in particular. I still have some good friends from Scotland. Used to regularly spend time in both Edinburgh and Glasgow. I was seeing a lass who lived in a tenement flat near the Hibs ground in Leith for a while. Those pubs that were open at 6am with a mixture of old lads just off the night shift with pints of 70 shilling and a nip along with people who'd been out all night were ace. Fascinating places.
fuzzy I knew a lot of folk around there. Middletons was my Hostelry of choice.
'How rad am I?'
Tell you what though - that bloody Olivia Coleman turns up in everything!
'Lionel Rich Tea.' 🤣
Just made a junkie out of Neil.
