Being back home last week it was great to be able to go out during the day and just pick up a fish teacake/butty for dinner, nothing better is there? Especially with a light smattering of chips on top. With rarely having fish and chips nowadays I suspect that the beef dripping used by most fish shops has been moderated over the years - it seems to have a different taste to it, though it might be my mind playing tricks. That said, I'd like to compare fish and chips fried in bd circa 1970, with bd of today I suspect there would be a fair bit of difference.

Eureka! I've found the holy fucking grail. After years of searching, (believe me I've tried 'em all) I've finally found proper 'northern' fish and chips in the SE. In Greenwich, SE London of all places!Haddock and chips are the real deal, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference from those bought from the absolute bench mark - that of Bizzie Lizzies in Skipton.Cost £6.80 (that's cheaper than a 400 mile round trip) and there's a pub opposite, handy for sinking a jar whilst yer fish is fried to order. Top Man would that fish and chip shop be named SUPER FISH?

I won't believe this until I've eaten them. It's so rare to come across enjoyable fish and chips outside of West Yorkshire, let alone London where the ones I've had the misfortune to buy have just gone straight in the bin.

News flash from Yorkshires' 2nd best fish & chip shop; Websters of Baildon...Head fish frier bloke has just left; haven't been in since so don't know if the quality has changed. There could be dark times ahead.

I was in last weekend.Fish was great, chips a little on the pale side but they were fresh in and the lass serving just hadn't left them in long enough.

Has anybody tried the Towngate Fisheries in Idle?If I remember correctly, they were one of the regional winners of the Seafish award in recent years.

Another entertaining post, Ad. How you managed to shoe-horn a "My spurned sexploitation sex session with sexpot stunna sloshie saga" onto the fish and chip shops thread is truly remarkable.

Well despite the dubious claims of some the Bread debate will rage on and on. When we were skint and couldn’t afford Fish we used to get Collaps and Fishcakes. Surely there cant be any variations and that will unite the board at least
Scollops and Fishcakes. Potato in batter or potato and and thin sliver of fish in batter. In a breadcake? :D
cake in a breadcake?

dandelion and burdock - the only fizzy drink that accompanies anything from a fish and chip shop. Tea is the only hot drink too.
