l.q.navarro. It's not news. They've had 2 bids turned down already. Can't understand, why he'd want to go up there !
Djpekingman Either that or someone at the bbc has learnt how to read, but failed the maths, adding 2 and 2 together and getting 17.
Big_Society The "2+2" equation is this: Bates is owned a £1m by GFH, they don't have that kind of loose about (they ring fence everything down to the last paper-clip cost) so in order to get that potential long term legal monkey off their back they need a quick sale. McCormack is only only established out-field over 21 player worth owt in this market, GFH don't do sentiment, they don't understand the symbolic significance of selling a popular player (they learnt nowt from Becchio), they just want the cash so they can plough on without the bates shadow. Unluckily for them McCormack isn't playing so come the last 48 hours of this transfer window expect Byram out the door for a paltry £3m.Thing is which ever way this goes GFH will look like they are just continuing with the Bates model, that is equally fair as it is unfair but it is partly their own fault, if you try to run a football club on investment portfolio rules and techniques you are going to come a cropper with the support, slick PR or not, at some point.
Fiery_jack Owed a million? What happened to the £58m they paid him for the club? Let him wait. I can't believe GFH are as narrow minded as Bates. We suffered from breaking up the best team in 8 years when gradel howson snodgrass were sold and never replaced, that effectively set us back 3 years again. It'll take at least 2years to get anywhere near that quality because prices have gone up and we haven't the money. The value of the club has already fallen accodring to gfhs own accounts so how does selling your best player improve their chances of them getting to dollar for their investment? It's a slow news month when transfer bids which increase by 250K make headline news.
