Gelhardt, Greenwood and Summerville are really at the breakthrough year now, they need to be staking a claim for more involvement and the management need to be bringing them on. Fuck all point in the academy and the under 23s to just create potential. From what I’ve seen all three have the potential to be decent premiership players if brought on. I see no point in spending 20million on another understudy. In striking terms Lasso’s essentially playing a lone striker with ten tucked in between the wingers. With Bamford, Rodrigo and gelhardt we’ve three strikers with Aaronson, Greenwood and Rodrigo we’ve three tens.

Mitaman the trouble is under Bielsa and Marsch's system the 10 also has to be a workhorse. Gelhardt needs to play in a proper front two.

Doesn’t bother me James going but it seems odd when he’s been involved in all but the game he was banned for so far this season.
I really wish AR, VO and AK would lean to either communicate clearly or shut the fuck up completely. How hard is it just to say we’re constantly looking and if the right payer comes along at the right price we will make every effort to sign them. How slow are they to learn from previous disasters on the PR front?

Obviously I don't know your source and I don't want to say it was probably a load of nonsense, but the bookmakers don't really get heavily involved in the player to move to club x markets. They are on a hiding to nothing if they do so, and a few small bets from the right post code will lead them to suspend betting and or collapse the price. It's really a bit of frivolity that gets them easy publicity.

Hey, don't shoot the messenger on this. I got the info from comments by journo James Horncastle, Italian football expert and something of a Leeds supporter, who otherwise rates Gnonto highly. He sees him at a similar stage in development as Gelhardt. My only reservation with trusting Horncastle is that he refers to Manchester United as 'United'

I've watched young Wilf's LUTV video and reading between the lines his Mum and Dad have already been to a game at Elland Road. If I'm correct that means the club were doing groundwork well in advance of deadline day. Something else he says suggests he had been waiting for this to happen, so again he knew there was real interest from Leeds.

I have no problem with the signing but we do seem to be lining up shit loads of top grade prospects with nowhere for them to play. Joseph, Perkins, Gnoto and Gelhardt. Whoever is keeping them all happy must be good at their job. We seem like crazed art collectors who cant stop adding one more piece to the collection although they have nowhere to show it.

Which is fine but didn’t you also say you weren’t up for us paying 20 million for someone to warm the bench when Bamfords fit whilst also stopping the progression of the likes of Gelhardt and Greenwood?
We’re not a club who can make 50m signings so for me this strategy makes sense.
Seems to me the club generally has an eye on the sell on value when going into the market these days too.
Looking forward to seeing what this Italian lad is about so hoping he gets a run at some point.

Raposa I think you've misunderstood my point. I'm not critical of the signing, I'm curious of how they all get game time. One forward in the first team, one in the u21s. Four very talented youngsters, Bamford and Rodrigo fighting for these places. Add In the two 10 spots which won't suit most of the six and it's still a squeeze. That was my point.

I was against paying a lot for a Bamford understudy, not against buying someone believed to be better.

I may be off the mark here or even just plain wrong, as I’ve followed from afar for a long time but … Bamford had one season when he bagged a load of goals. Other than that he’s always come across as more of a Sherringham striker with less goals . I remember on here people questioning his ability to perform in the PL when we went up and saying we needed a a goalscorer.
I reckon we needed to bring in a goalscorer to take the pressure off of him rather than a back up as there’s no guarantee that he’s going to be banging thém in on his return.

You'd think they'd have a proper loan system in place for blooding talent. Local rather than South London and South Wales so that they can stay living local and still be part of the club. Halifax, Harrogate, Bradford and Dog Peggers on the doorstep.
