I don't think bates is a tight arse. I think we have a budget and it must be reasonable given the number of players in the squad now and the wages we are paying out.
For a start, we should lose at least 8 of them we already have and before I could give you chapter and verse I'd need some clue about how we are going to play. That said,
- I don't think we need any more defenders
- I don't think we need any more forwards
- I don't think we need any more wingers
IF we bring in anyone they should be hard tackling growly central midfielders. But to be honest I think the problem is more management, lack of tactical structure and incompetence. Anyone we bring in will fail right now.
No team should concede six at this level. And not at home. Its bad management and you can tell the players know it as well. With the right tactics we can compete - we've shown that already.
