Push white on and stick Pugh behind him. Give the new Finnish lad a holding position and let Clayton go forward. Snodgrass will have to keep his spot. Becchio and McCormack to start. Howson gets a breather or is kept as a sub should the new boy be shit.

That's what I would do but according to Duncan Castles on twitter, the oracle of WACCOE, he has been bought to play in midfield but we're still looking for a left back.

Thing is this wouldn't be a story at any other club. It's ridiculous as it could very well happen.

Well the sensible thing to do would be for the club to put an improved contract infront of anyone as soon as they start to show definite promise, but a 10k wage ceiling means that's not possible and we'll continue to lose anyone with genuine talent.

Any chance of some ambition or commitment to improving as a football club and backing the manager. What puzzles me is the amount of backing bates gave blackwell.

I understand the concept of "re-building Leeds United brick by brick" but I assumed it was a metaphor rather than literal.

Grayson's win % as Leeds manager is 62.76% - with limited resources.

Leeds wage bill in 2009-10 was at least 3 times the entire turnover of 80% of division 1 clubs. Thats in no way limited resources. In fact its arguably an unfair advantage, or would be if you could marshall those resources.

Revie over achieved building up a club with nothing, no money, fuck all players and not many fans.

Grayson inherited a solvent, well cash rich club that was spending (and still does) significantly more on players than the vast majority of the teams they play against.

He should be about 75% if he was doing his job proper.

Compare bacon face with money advantage - 1995 on with his record before 95.

Money should make a huge difference, with decent management. Or not that much with average management.

Barca/Madrid and even Celtic and Rangers show that.

Are you suggesting Leeds's financial muscle is head and shoulders the rest of this division - ie, on a par with the Barca/Madrid and Celtic/Rangers comparision you use?

Figures produced by others on here would suggest that the problem isn't the wage budget, but the 500k per annum salary ceiling imposed by Bates/Harvey.

I would argue that our wage bill was signficantly lower proportion of turnover than other clubs - it's all relative. The fact we generate a significantly higher turnover should mean that we invest a similar higher proportion to wages and not strangle it. It's meant to be about progress and if you have the means to invest then you do so, not try and create a level playing field by investing the same/a little more than your competitors.

This season we have spent fuck all. £100k on Lonerghan - lost max, lost bradley, lost 'killa', lost schmeichal and haven't spent relative to turnover - which is what businesses do to grow and compete. I don't believe we have invested money anywhere near the same rate as those in our league and while we struggle to compete, we have invested £7m on corporate boxes on infrastructure we don't own. Allegedly.
